A Silk Spiral

I just wanted to add a photo of a scarf that I added to my etsy shop www.ArtonSilkbyLouise.etsy.com

The scarf is a handpainted silk chiffon and has a soft and romantic feel.

I really like the image as the picture draws the viewer in to follow the direction and natural flow of the fabric. The fabric has created a soft spiral effect that is easy on the eye and creates its own interesting pattern.

The year of Craft exhibition at Swallow studios

Following the window exhibition in Monaghan featuring ‘The Ballybay art and Craft group’ I have decided to put the exhibition up in Swallow Studios for a couple of weeks.

We had lots of good comments and remarks following the exhibition done following a series of workshops that gave the group a taster of the different textile crafts.

The exhibition will stay in the textile studio for a couple of weeks before going home to Ballybay, for another window exhibition which will give plenty of opportunity to view the fabulous talent that is spreading in the Monaghan area

Year of Craft 2011 Monaghan celebrates

Last weekend saw The Forge-in a festival in Monaghan Town to celebrate the year of craft with over 200 blacksmiths in town all working together to create a sculpture for the town it was a great buzz and very different.

As part of the festival a number of craft workshops were done through out the year in some different areas of craft.

I did a number of workshops with a group of women from Ballybay ‘TheBallybay art and craft group’.  We started off in Ballybay with the first workshop on Tapestry weaving the next workshops were held in Swallow Studios working on silk painting, felting, batik, needle felting .

At the end the group had enough pieces to have a small exhibition, last weekend as part of the Forge-in Festival the work was exhibited in one of the vacant shop windows in the town I like to think our little
